Dr. Iman Sjahputra founded Iman Sjahputra & Partners in 1987 and has over 40 years of experience in Indonesian legal practice.

Dr. Sjahputra’s practice spans intellectual property, international business transactions, foreign and domestic investment, and litigation. He is among the first generation of Indonesian lawyers to obtain an Intellectual Property Consultant licence and remains one of the most recognized IP practitioners in the country.

He is a prolific legal author whose articles have appeared regularly in Suara Pembaruan, Bisnis Indonesia, and Legal Review, and has published multiple books covering Indonesian trademark law, internet law, corporate law, and labour regulation. He is fluent in Indonesian, English, and Mandarin.

Dr. Sjahputra holds a Legal Doctorate from Universitas Padjadjaran, a Master of Laws from American University Washington College of Law, and a Bachelor of Law from Universitas Gadjah Mada. He has also completed international intellectual property training in Japan. He is consistently recognised in The Legal 500, WTR 1000 (Prosecution & Strategy; Enforcement & Litigation), and is listed among Asia IP’s 50 Indonesian IP Experts.
